Name: Robert Ireland

Age: 30

Previous Clubs: Cardiff Cosmopolitans

Position: Left back/Centre back

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I live in central Cardiff with my fiancée and run a growing mortgage advice business. I'm a big Manchester City supporter and have had a season ticket since 2015.

What other hobbies do you have outside of football?

I took up distance running in 2019. My current goals are to run a sub 1:30 half marathon and sub 19 minute 5k. I like reading about sports psychology.

Finally, specialty coffee - I have a Gaggia classic which I love. That's a constant learning process which I really enjoy.

What is your greatest footballing memory?

Two - aside from the obvious Aguero v QPR! Being in the ground when City lifted the league in 2018. I always wanted to be there to see them lift a trophy alongside my Dad & brother. The second was being behind the goal a week later at Southampton when Jesus scored last minute for 100 points - total chaos.

Who is your all time favourite player, and why?

David Silva. He changed how I watch & understand football. His intelligence, passing and managing the tempo of matches. This was consistent over 10 seasons.

What are your personal objectives for this season?

I want to help the team finish as high in the league as we can. This is my 13th season of senior football so I'm hoping to pass on my experience and help my team mates improve too.

Llandaff Cosmos were formed in 2012 and since its inception the club has doubled in size. The club has had a very successful, although short history, winning back to back promotions from the third tier to Division One of the Cardiff and District Leagues within the first two seasons as a club. In 2013 the club also won the GD Roberts Cup.

The club has continued this pattern of progression, with our First team gaining promotion to the Cardiff and District Premier Division in 2016. The first team are aiming for a much improved league position in this years 2018/19 season.
